Sports Illustrated is an American sports magazine. It was founded in August 1954 by Henry Luce. The magazine is published on a bi-weekly basis. There are over 3 million subscribers, with over 20 million people reading the magazine each week. It is no surprise that over 18 million of the readers are men. The current Editorial Director is Chris Stone. The Publisher is Danny Lee. Sports Illustrated is owned by Meredith Corporation. It is based in New York City, New York. Currently, there is only an English version of the magazine. Sports Illustrated has won the National Magazine Award for General Excellence twice.
Some regular segments included in Sports Illustrated are Who’s Hot, Who’s Not, Inside the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, College Football, College Basketball, NASCAR, Golf, Boxing, Horse Racing, Soccer, and Tennis, Faces in the Crowd, The Point After, and Inside Baseball. Sports Illustrated also has various awards that are gifted every year, including Performer of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year, Sportsman of the Century, and Sports Illustrated’s Muhammad Ali Legacy Award. Each year, the magazine also publishes an annual Swimsuit issue, which started in 1964. The magazine has featured iconic athletes on the covers, with most covers being covered by Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, LeBron James, Tiger Woods, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Tom Brady. Sports teams have been on the cover of the magazine as well, including the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco 49ers, and more. Additionally, Presidents John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton were also featured in and on the magazine.
There are two subscriptions available. For $20, you can get 39 issues. For $30, you can get 78 issues. The magazine is printed on a bi-weekly basis. All subscriptions are renewed annually.
