Gmail is a free email platform developed by Google. Gmail launched in April 2004 and was designed for Google by an engineer named Paul Buchheit. Gmail accounts may be accessed via the Gmail website or by way of third-party applications that use POP or IMAP email protocols. Gmail launched with a limit of one gigabyte of storage per user, though currently, accounts are able to use up to fifteen gigabytes of storage per user. Gmail users can receive emails up to 50 megabytes per email, including attachments, and are able to send emails up to 25 megabytes in size per email. Other Google services, such as Google Drive, can be used in conjunction with Gmail. Google LLC was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin and is based in Mountain View, California.
Personal Gmail accounts are available for free simply by signing up with your name and date of birth on the Gmail website. These accounts do not incur any initial or recurring monthly charges to use and may be kept as long as desired by the user. Business users who wish to use the Gmail platform for their company may sign up for G Suite which includes a variety of Google programs including Gmail, video conferencing, shared calendars, Google documents, and shared cloud storage via Google Drive. Plans start at $6.00 per user per month, with additional storage and support options available on the $12.00 per user per month and $25.00 per user per month plans. All Gmail accounts, both personal and business, may be cancelled at any time desired by the user or business. More information is included on this page to assist you in cancelling your Gmail account.
