Old Republic Home Protection was founded in 1974 and is based in San Ramon, California in the USA. Old Republic Home Protection was originally known as Dependable Home Warranty but was later changed to its current name. Old Republic offers home warranty coverage that includes protection for homeowners against the cost of repairs or replacements for their home systems or appliances. Other features of the plans offered by Old Republic include coverage for plumbing, heating, and electrical systems, appliances ranging from ovens or stoves, dishwashers, and garbage disposals to water heaters and garbage compactors, and coverage for specialty items such as bathtub whirlpool systems and central vacuum systems.

Plans vary from state to state and Old Republic does not operate or offer plans in all states.

Plans for homeowners come in 4 tiers of coverage. All plans include the various appliances and systems as well as rekeying for locks and some limited pest control. Standard plans stop there and are billed $400.00 per year for a house and $350.00 for a mobile home or condo. The ultimate plan also includes plus some other enhancements including coverage for improperly installed items, and that is billed at $450.00 for a mobile home or condo or $500.00 for a house. Platinum plans include coverage for plumbing stoppages, enhanced manufacturer’s warranty, and additional coverage for HVAC systems for $650.00 per year.
