Elle magazine is a fashion and lifestyle magazine published in multiple countries around the world. Elle was launched in France in 1945 by Pierre Lazareff and his wife Helene Gordon. It was introduced in Japan in 1969 and then in the United States in 1985, and in China starting in 1988. Elle was purchased by Hearst magazines in 2011, which opened it up to being distributed in 15 countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Russia, and Ukraine. Currently, Elle is the largest fashion magazine in the world with 43 editions available in 60 countries around the world. Some 25 million unique visitors click onto Elle’s various global websites each month. Individual issues of Elle are published monthly at a cost of $5.99 per issue. Subscriptions are offered through various 3rd party companies for varying prices, but purchasing directly from the US distributor, Hearst Magazines, subscriptions are available for either 1 or 2-year terms. A 1-year subscription will bill for $10.00 initially, while a 2-year subscription is discounted to $15.00 for 24 issues. Both subscriptions will automatically renew at the end of the subscription term, at the then current subscription rate, unless cancelled by the user. However, there is no contract and subscriptions can be cancelled at any time. Refunds may or may not be available for any unused time on the paid subscription term.
