Genealogy Bank is an online resource site for genealogical research. The site offers one of the largest databases of digitized newspapers from all 50 states in the USA that date all the way back to 1690. Other resources offered by the site to assist in genealogical research include government publications, the Social Security Death Index, and historical books. Altogether, the site offers more than 2 billion records. The more than 9,000 records available from newspapers include birth and marriage announcements, obituaries, letters, speeches, photographs, local news, opinion pieces, advertisements and more. Genealogy Bank is a subsidiary of NewsBank that was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Naples, Florida under the leadership of CEO Dan Jones. Genealogy Bank is a subscription-based site and offers memberships in three different tiers depending on the length of time a member desires. A 1-month membership is available for $19.9 per month which renews automatically every 30 days. 6-month memberships are billed a total of $49.95 when signing up and renew every six months afterward. A 12-month membership is also available for a total charge of $99.90 which is discounted from time to time for new members and will renew automatically after the 12 month period ends. New subscriptions are eligible for a 7-day free trial period before being charged. If the membership is not cancelled within the 7-day period, then the member will be charged for the membership choice that was selected when signing up for the free trial membership. None of the memberships have a minimum commitment term and all can be cancelled at any time if desired.
