The Basics: How to Cancel Your AOL Account
The world has changed! Remember the days when you received a free CD in the mail from AOL that offered you hundreds of hours of access to their internet service? Did you sign up and forget about it but still find yourself paying for passive charges for email, security, or other add-ons that you no longer have a need for? Here are some tips for cancelling your AOL service once and for all:
- You’ll need your username and password and be able to answer the security question for access to your account.
- Log into your AOL account and navigate to “Manage My Subscriptions” where you can find the “Change My Plan” link
- This link will lead you to the link called “Cancel AOL” where you’ll be provided with a host of reasons you’ll want to consider staying. These can be ignored.
- Proceed to “Cancel AOL”, select the appropriate reason for cancelling and press the large orange “Cancel AOL” icon to complete the process
Pro Tip: √ If you subscribe to AOL premium services, these must be individually canceled prior to canceling your account.

They are meant to help you positively identify your card transactions by including information about the date of each payment and the company from which it was purchased.
